Turns out I have a slight blind spot

See all the splotchy bits on the right side of the photo? That’s from when they lasered my eye back together after I got shot with a Nerf gun. My optometrist then said “yeah, so it’s a small blind spot”. I guess they forgot to mention that the laser would kill the tissue during the surgery. Oh well. At least it’s far enough in my peripheral vision that it doesn’t really affect anything.

I was wondering where to stick that in order to have optimal vision back.

Quite literally the first thing I thought of after I found out.

My S.O. was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa. Her peripheral vision will slowly continue eroding. The ophthalmologist told her he couldn’t legally take her license away, but if she’s smart, she would give up driving.

She’s the one that taught me to drive a stick. She was always a fantastic driver in my opinion, and if not for the part where she may or may not see cars next to her, she still would be. She has had to give up a lot of personal freedom because of this stupid disease. I’ve watched it eat at her self-esteem. She feels helpless in a lot of ways.

Sorry, I’m not actually trying to one-up you here. I’m just glad your results weren’t worse in your case, and I hope you’re careful out there on the roads. Always look twice.

Holy shit man, that blows. Super hard.

And no need, I know you’re not trying to one up or anything. It’s a very very slight blind spot (literally at the very edge of my vision), so much so that I don’t even notice it on a daily basis. But thanks for your concern.

... how did you lose an eye to a foam dart gun?

It hit my eye and the force tore my retina. The eye is still good! Enough!
